CPCA Honours Executives with 2008 Industry Statesman, Roy Kennedy Outstanding Achievement Awards
OTTAWA, ON – SEPT. 18, 2008 – The Canadian Paint and Coatings Association (CPCA), the national voice of Canada’s paint and coatings industry, recognized three executives for their exemplary service to the sector at its Annual Convention, held in Ottawa September 13 - 16.
"The CPCA confers Industry Statesman Awards on those who have made outstanding, long-term contributions to the CPCA during their careers," says Jim Quick, CPCA President.
Benoit Venne was recognized as a 2008 Industry Statesman for the direction he provided, on behalf of his company and CPCA Supplier Members, both to the CPCA and l’Association québécoise de l’industrie de la peinture (AQIP).
"Mr. Venne devoted much of his working life to the paint and coatings industry," says Mr. Quick. "Always generous with his time, he made important contributions to the successes of many sector association committees and events. He has also been instrumental, in recent years, in assisting and advising the CPCA Board of Directors."
Lorne Brown was recognized as a 2008 Industry Statesman for his dedication to the paint and coatings industry, as expressed in long-standing contributions to the CPCA, the Ontario Paint Association (OPA) and the British Columbia Paint Manufacturers Association (BCPMA).
"Mr. Brown has contributed to our industry for more than 30 years, as a member of many of our national committees," says Mr. Quick. "He has also devoted his talents and initiative to our provincial associations, where he has been instrumental in their development."
The CPCA presents its coveted Roy Kennedy Outstanding Achievement Award to an individual whose demonstrates exceptional dedication to the Association, its members, and the paint and coatings sector.
Rick Duha, of The Duha Group, was awarded the Roy Kennedy Award for his role in the transformation of the CPCA into an aggressive, proactive, analytical-based association. Over the years, he has served on many, mission-critical committees and as a CPCA Director.
"Mr. Duha received this award for his many contributions to the Association, particularly in the past few years as the CPCA has evolved," says Mr. Quick. "His work organizing our pivotal 2006 Convention helped set the stage for the CPCA successes that have followed. He has shown tremendous commitment to our industry and the Association."
The CPCA confers the Industry Statesman and Roy Kennedy Outstanding Achievement awards each year at its Annual Convention.
